You take control of your photography by taking control of your camera and settings, don’t let your camera control what you photograph

If you’ve bought yourself a DSLR camera and you are intimidated by the number of buttons and dials, it can be very tempting to put it away and think what have I done, well you could just put it on P or auto mode but if you crave the creative control that inspired you to purchase your camera in the first place, but where do you begin?

This masterclass workshop is designed for the clients to learn their own camera with hands on approach and build their confidence and push themselves to the next level,

Some of the things i here from time to time

What’s what, how does it work what settings should I be on, What settings are you on, why is my image looking like that, what have I done wrong, something wrong with my camera, it must be the lens, it’s a grey import, I can fix it in PS, I have expensive camera it should work on its own (well almost), the book said to do this and that book said do that? I have heard it all over the years and to be honest we must learn to walk before we can run and let’s face it the more expensive your camera the more settings you will have the more complicated it will become and to use.

So let’s start at the beginning by learning to use whatever camera you have no matter the price  model and make. The first part of this masterclass is to find out what you know and what you don’t know about your camera then we will go through each setting one by one and I will explain how it works when to use it and if you need to use that settings remember each camera out the box may not be set for your type of photography so you will need to programme it to suit, we will check to see if your camera's firmware is up to date this is very important no point in trying to find a setting that’s been added in a firmware that you don’t have. Next part of this masterclass we will cover types of modes shutter, priority, Manual, programme, ‘auto, Av, Tv, P, M’ then we will cover most of the important settings on a camera ISO, White balance, colour balance, focusing points, sRGB or RGB, Raw or Jpeg , and more, we will move onto controlling the light with exposure compensation and then focusing depth-of-field by using the aperture which is measured in ‘f-stops’ and is usually displayed using an ‘f-number’, e.g. f/2.0, f/2.8, f/4.0, f/5.6, f/8.0 and so on, sensor noise what is it and how to control it in low light or high ISO or is it thermal noise what’s the difference.

Once we have understood the settings we will pop outside and put them to the test and see how it all works and comes together.

If you have decided to book the image processing and editing part of the masterclass, we will look at editing your image in LR also in DPP for canon users, we will look at how to export the right files size for web, FB, websites, or Emails, we will cover most of the image editing side to your image and tips and tricks in LR canon users will learn the benefits of using canons own software DPP before exporting the image into LR and how to save each image.
