Wildlife

Wildebeest, topi, zebra, and Thomson's gazelle migrate into and occupy the Mara reserve, from the Serengeti plains to the south. All members of the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, African elephant, cape buffalo, and black rhinoceros) are found in the Masai Mara. Hyenas, Cheetahs, Jackals, and Bat-eared foxes. Antelopes including Grant's gazelles, impalas, Duikers and Coke's Hartebeests and many more. The plains are also home to the distinctive Masai giraffe. More than 470 species of birds have been identified in the park, many of which are migrants, with almost 60 species being raptors. Birds that call this area home include: Vultures, Eagles, Buzzards, Goshawks, Falcons, Hawks, Kestrels, Marabou storks, Secretary birds, Hornbills, Crowned cranes, Ostriches, Long-crested eagles, African pygmy-falcons, Bee-eaters and the Lilac-breasted roller, which is the national bird of Kenya.

(IF YOU BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS WITH US)  not included in the price

All our flights are ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Bookings are protected by ABTA the Association of British Travel Agents, Your trip is designed by myself and put together though a well established travel company.

Lodges are used on my safaris, our permits cover all areas of the Mara NP,  the Mara triangle areas (£75pp per day as from 2017/18) extra

professional local guides are used, with 17 Kenya and Tanzania safaris under my belt and photography tours over the past 10 years it's all about timing, location and knowledge. The east has a good head of cheetah (2 Sopa brothers) and 3 Lion prides one of which very large 10 strong, as the migration passes though they eat the grass as they head west and making it easy to see other animals, i pick lodges that suits the time of year, the east side and within a 2 to 3 hour drive straight through the Mara NP with plenty of wildlife on the way we can be in the western or the Mara triangle (these are the days which we spend all day out in the Mara)

Our location on this trip Keekorok

Keekorok area is well known for its large lion pride that likes to sunbathe on the rocks, and two very good Leopard locations at easy reach from the lodge,

The sand river is not far about 30 min drive and is a good location for the early migrational herds and non migrational wildlife that cross the river including predators

The Keekorok lodge within the grounds has its own Hippo pool with lots of birds

This trip runs every year with bookings taken up to 18 months in advance making it easier for you  to spread the payments over a 18 months period, please read TC for more info

6 persons only 3 person in each 7 seater 4x4 open top land cruiser with plenty of standing room and a row of sets each giving you plenty of room to move about and use your sliding windows to get them low down head on shots,

Personal note

I get asked a lot why are my trips cheaper than others, same place same time and do the same tours ? well that's easy i don't take a wage from any of the Africa tours this way it gives me the opportunity to also take photos which i think is the right way, i use professional travel companies here in the UK and in Kenya which allows me to book the group trip under their Atol travel protection. I may receive a discount and bonuses for myself from all companies involved so everyone's a winner
