This is a unique opportunity to photograph one of the UKs best loved and most colorful of birds up close with purpose built changeable perches to suit each photographers liking and only 10-12 foot in front of the hide, bean bag is needed within the hide, try and keep away from bags that have Polly balls inside they make to much noise and at times put the birds off also some of these bags do not allow you to change the inside contents,
The hide is built above the banking and hided within the reed bed, the location of the hide gives you a nice open and clean image of the Kingfishers, lenses of 70-200 + TC 300-400mm max, a bean bag is best here or if you wish a tripod can be used you will also get a chance to photographing the resident wildlife like Dippers Wagtails and Water rails this workshop is designed for 1-2-1s and no more than 2 this way we will get the best images throughout the day.
If the lights right we will also have the chance to try for diving shots in the diving pool. more info on diving images below
We will look at camera settings that's best suited to the day's sunlight ie exposure, aperture, WB, ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation.,
High speed diving images. If its diving images only that you are looking for then its a complete different set up then perched images, the set up will take a little longer to get right and only you will be at the diving pool at any time taking the images, i will completely do all the set up with or with out flash then sit next to you giving tips watching your settings change them when required, here its best to have a fast frame rate camera anything 5 fps and over, on slow frame rate cameras 5 and under we will need to select when to take a shot which in most cases works best.
High season perched and diving workshop in summer this is the time when both male and female fish to feed young in our out of the nest, in low light here we will use high speed flash, full camera and flash will be given Nikon or Canon
